His lips parted, lost for words. Did she seriously think that he would believe a cheap lie like that? It sounded like a cookie-cutter story from some child’s fairytale book. But what shocked him the most — and perhaps what scared him the most — was the fact that she had been so serious in saying that he would never be able to return back.

“Ex…cuse me? Never return?” He uttered a rude laugh, partly as an act of incredulity and partly as a coping technique for the unbelievable. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I can’t miss this match. It means everything to me right now.”

What about the win? The money? Korra? —Bolin?

Mako quickly shook his head, regaining composure. He made eye contact again with the redhead woman. “Look, if this story is true — and only if it’s true — then all you people have been wandering around not trying to find a way to actually look for a way back home.” He then turned to look around him. “There’s got to be someplace that can take me back…”

Man, way to cause some form of dilemma for her. Lina couldn’t help but frown a bit more at that, obviously displeased with the fact that yet another person had been brought here. More than that, she was growing rather irritated that he kept pressing the matter. Of course, it wasn’t surprising, but it started to get on her nerves after awhile.

Finally, she sighs and speaks, trying to keep a level tone. The laughter and obviously rudeness in his voice didn’t help her temper at all. “Not everyone has been wandering around. Some of us have actually tried to go back, and trust me, buddy, there isn’t a way.” By the end, she’s almost snarling it.

She waves a hand dismissively at him, then,”If there is, it probably would have been found by now. If you’re lucky, if you get back, then there won’t be much of a change.” She shrugs,”It’s different for everyone, though. Just like how they got here.”

“G-Give up?” Mako gave her a skeptical glare. Was she just feigning this so he would just buzz off? That would be pretty inconsiderate if that were true. Then again, there were always sleezebags like those back home who couldn’t care less about helping out a lost newbie.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I’m not gonna give up on trying. Look here—” he instinctively caught himself, realizing that he wasn’t dealing with Bolin and a case of raiding the pantry, “—uh, Miss. I really need to get there. I have this huge pro-bending match coming up in the next few days. You’ve probably heard about it on the radio or something…right?”

There was a tinge of anxiousness in the boy’s tone; something that wasn’t often there given the fact that he was displayed a reserved air.

She looks up at the guy, a slight frown gracing her features. She sighs, then, shaking her head,”This is Arcadios, an island created by the Goddess Sophia in order to save us all from the end of the universe - at least, that’s what we’re told.” In all honesty, Lina’s a bit of a skeptic on the idea.

“Far as anyone knows, there isn’t a way back to whatever world your from. Hate to kill your dreams, but that’s how it is.” Lina’s just reached the point where it couldn’t matter if she ended up back in her home world or not. While she did in fact miss her friends and companions, it was something she had grown used to. It takes a moment, but she catches on to what his reason was.

The short ginger raises an eyebrow, obviously interested. “Pro-bending? And no, I don’t know what a radio is…” Or a car, for that matter. Whoops.

Mako stumbled over to lean against the edge of a building. He ducked his head down, clutching his head. He wasn’t sure whether it was a migraine, memory-loss, or what; all he knew was that the front of his forehead was pulsing like crazy. And no matter how many times he looked back up, the streets still remained as foreign as they had been the moment he had come to.

This definitely wasn’t Republic City.

“At least there aren’t any cars,” he mumbled to himself, laughing at his own bad humor. Then again, wishing away all the Satomobiles in the world would be a poor wish; after all, Asami’s father — the great Sato himself — had sponsored him and his team in the tournament finals. Wishing someone’s business away was pretty stuck up, let alone selfish.

Suddenly, Mako’s eyes widened. The tournament. It was just days away. And if this place wasn’t Republic City, then he’d have to catch the nearest bus, train, or whatever in order to get back to his home.

Mako let out a low grumble as he turned to look out into the throng of people. He hated asking for help, but it was either tournament or no tournament. And the tournament meant everything to him right now. He pulled his hand away from his head so he didn’t look like a deranged stranger. He quickly jammed his hands into his pockets, eyeing a particular stranger who seemed approachable.

“‘Scuse me,” he said brusquely, leaning his head forward a bit. “You wouldn’t happen to know the bus schedules around here, would you? I…kind of need to get back to Republic City. ASAP.”

Having needed some way to bide her time, Lina had basically walked from Strength to the city. She had become idle the past few days, unable to find something to hold her interest aside from the library in the Village of Wisdom. And now that that had worn off, she was even more bored than before.

Arms crossed behind her head casually, she walked around the streets with an almost vacant expression, having absolutely nothing to do. The fact that someone had come up to speak with her was almost a relief. She eyes the male for a moment, noting his dress style and the way he spoke. Pretty informal, and casual. She was almost curious as to what kind of world the guys was from.

The question itself catches her off-guard, though. “Bus schedules?”

She rustles her hair, then shakes her head,”I don’t think there are any here. And you might as well give up on trying to go back to uh…Republic City.” She shrugs, moving to cross her arms over her chest now. She would probably have to go into the little welcoming spiel soon enough, something that, while irritating, she had gotten used to doing.

that-one-flower-girl rage yelled, "Oh what nice colour hair. "Oh well you don't know me but I was asked to tell you how wonderfully beautiful you look today~" by this point it wasn't even embarrassing to say."

“Oh. Thanks…” What is confidence.
